Will Apple Launch a HDTV?

There have been rumors about Apple making an HDTV product, not anything like an Apple TV – but an actual HDTV.  Rumors are coming from Bloomberg, who is citing internal sources who claim that Jeff Robbin is on the TV project.  Jeff Robbin, Vice President of Consumer Applications at Apple Inc,  was a lead designer in iTunes and one of the persons responsible for the ipod.

None of these rumors are official, however, Steve Jobs did talk and  brain storm about HDTVs. According to Walter Isaacson’s biography, the late Apple Co-founder said, in reference to an Apple HDTV, that “It will have the simplest user interface you could imagine.”

Even though Steve Jobs said this, and had a vision about what the HD TV would be, it doesn’t mean that there will ever an Apple HDTV. It should be noted that he was on to something when he talked about a simple interface.  TV manufactures are filling TVs with all sorts of features, 3D, Web access, internet radio access, games, youtube ready, Netflix ready, touchscreen tv, etc.  One thing all these new cram packed TVs have in common is that the same standard remote is provided,  only now it comes with more little buttons that you don’t even press.  Another issue with the feature crammed TVs is: half of the consumers don’t even know how to get to them because the controls are not user friendly + you have to buy all sorts of extra pieces to make things work, and sign up for all sorts of accounts…………exhausting!

So the question is: Will Apple release a TV, and will it change the way people watch TV? Will Apple be the company that seamlessly brings all the Add-ons and regular TV viewing together?  Will the new iCloud be paving the way for seamless syncing across all of your devices including a future TV?

Let’s not get too excited, but how great would it be to have easy, seamless integration on your TV for  features like :Netflix, Youtube, Gaming consoles, Internet Radio, Photo streams, and of course your regular TV and or satellite sources + MORE!??
